New Look to Sundays

A New Look to Sundays

At Bearwood Chapel, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to find out what the Bible teaches about who Jesus is and why he came to earth, died on the Cross and rose again from the dead.  We appreciate as well that we are all different with different preferences and work/life situations.  So we recognise that the normal church service at 10:30am might not be everyone’s cup of tea.  So we’ve been making some changes to our Sunday programme to give more people opportunity to meet together to worship God and to learn more about him from the Bible. We would like to invite you to give one of our services a try.

The 9:30 Service

Our earlier service is intended to be relaxed and more informal with a sense of the whole family learning together.  Children are actively included in the singing and other activities and there is a short Bible story told using puppets, DVD, fuzzy felts or drama.  This isn’t just a service for young kids and their parents though.  There is something for everyone.  Central to the meeting is the opportunity to seriously investigate what the Bible teaches. There is usually a talk lasting about 20-30 minutes and we try to create opportunities for questions and discussion.  The service lasts for about 1 hour.  Afterwards,  tea/coffee and light refreshments are served and there is opportunity to mingle with those coming along to the 11:15 service.

Morning Worship (11:15am)

We serve coffee/tea and light refreshments from about 10:30am onwards so come along early and take the opportunity to mingle and chat with others including those who have just attended the 9:30 service.  The 11:15 service starts with lively worship including a mixture of contemporary songs and well-loved traditional hymns.  There is then a 30 minute sermon where we look at a specific Bible passage.  We celebrate communion on most Sundays.  Our children’s Sunday Club programme for 3-11s runs in parallel with the service and a crèche is available for 0-3s.

Sunday@Seven

This is a café style event which runs each week at 7:00pm.  We start with food including pizza and chips, cakes, biscuits etc.  We then break into different groups to look at a particular subject.  Sometimes we work through a book of the Bible together whilst on other occasions we deal with topical issues.  There is plenty of opportunity for questions, discussion and debate.  Currently we have a group for 11-18 year olds (21CD) a group for those who want to find out more about what the Bible teaches (Dig Deeper) and from time to time we run a group for those who are just beginning to investigate the claims of Christianity (First Look).

Church –not just about Sundays
